Bandera PVC Pelletizing – PVC Pellet Production Lines
Bandera PVC Pelletizing lines are counter-rotating twin-screw extrusion systems developed for the controlled processing and pelletizing of rigid and plasticized PVC formulations.
Bandera's PVC technology is based on more than 70 years of experience in manufacturing counter-rotating twin-screw extruders. Extruder options ranging from Ø45–175 mm are configured to provide energy efficiency, process flexibility and the ability to process different PVC formulations on the same machine platform.
Flexible Processing for Rigid and Plasticized PVC
Bandera PVC Pelletizing systems are designed for processing different rigid and plasticized PVC formulations.
The ability to process different rigid and plasticized PVC formulations with the same screw pair enables manufacturers to switch between different recipes without modifying the mechanical equipment.
This configuration provides a significant advantage in terms of process flexibility and rapid production changeovers for manufacturers producing different PVC products.
Counter-Rotating Twin-Screw Extruder
The core of Bandera PVC pelletizing lines is the 2B HTS counter-rotating twin-screw extruder.
The extruder is configured with a barrel and screws featuring a length of 28 L/D. The venting zone is positioned at 20 L/D. This configuration is designed to allow the use of a gentler screw profile and help limit mechanical and thermal stress on the material.
The final 8 L/D section of the extruder is configured as follows:
- 4 L/D degassing section
- 4 L/D for melt compression and transfer to the pelletizing die
Controlled Feeding Systems for PVC
Different feeding systems can be used on Bandera PVC pelletizing lines according to the formulation and process requirements.
Horizontal Volumetric Screw Dosing
The horizontal screw dosing system, which provides controlled feeding of PVC from the storage hopper to the extruder, is configured with minimum and maximum level control, an agitator and a variable-speed AC motor operating in synchronization with the extruder screws.
This configuration helps prevent PVC from forming lumps inside the hopper and supports consistent feeding into the extruder.
Vertical Forced Feeder
The forced feeding system, consisting of a conical hopper, vertical screw and agitator blade structure, enables controlled feeding according to process requirements.
Thermal Management and PVC Processing Control
In PVC processing, it is important to prevent the material from being exposed to excessive thermal and mechanical stress.
In Bandera extruders, screw thermoregulation is carried out using internal silicone oil circulation, particularly in the terminal section of the screws.
Together with the venting and degassing configuration of the extruder, this design represents an important part of the process architecture for controlled PVC processing.
Rapid Production Changeover and Easy Cleaning
Fast and easy machine cleaning is important during production changeovers between different PVC formulations.
The barrel displacement system used on Bandera PVC pelletizing lines allows the barrel to be moved, helping production changeovers and cleaning operations to be carried out more quickly.
Pelletizing Die
Bandera PVC pelletizing systems can use pelletizing dies with either central or side cutting plates.
The die structure is designed to provide balanced melt flow distribution and reduce process issues such as material overheating and pellets sticking together.
The quick-release system facilitates easier cleaning of the conveyor adapter and pelletizing die.
The cut pellets are pneumatically conveyed to the RGT pellet cooler by means of a high-pressure fan.
RGT Pellet Cooling System
The Bandera RGT Series pellet cooler is configured with a stainless steel hopper and a perforated stainless steel plate.
Adjustable electric vibrators provide controlled pellet flow, while a high-capacity fan system cools the pellets with air.
The terminal screen installed on the system helps separate improperly shaped pellets.
Design for Low Energy Consumption
Bandera PVC pelletizing lines are designed according to an energy-efficiency approach aimed at achieving a low kW/kg ratio.
Energy consumption is determined according to extruder size, PVC formulation, production capacity and process conditions.
Flexible Solution for PVC Pellet Production
Bandera PVC Pelletizing technology provides a flexible configuration for processing different rigid and plasticized PVC formulations on the same machine platform.
Particularly in plants producing different recipes and PVC products, the combination of rapid production changeover, controlled thermal processing, degassing, homogenization and pellet cooling systems provides important advantages throughout the production process.
